Istanbul & Western Turkey

Istanbul is spread over an area of 7,500 km2 and one of the most crowded metropolitan cities in the world with 16 million inhabitants. Despite the wide and dense public transportation network throughout Istanbul, there is huge traffic congestion due to 5 million registered vehicles.

By the beginning of 2023, the total number of registered electric vehicles was around 15.000 in Turkey. With the start of the mass production of Turkish e-vehicle brand, TOGG, these numbers are expected to increase rapidly in the coming years and may reach +70.000 at the end of the project. Currently, approximately 58% of these e-vehicles are located in Istanbul.

At the end of 2022, ZES provided charging points in all provinces of Turkey and the total number of EV charging station that ZES operate is nearly 1.500.
